First Historical Character Retired

Did you know that Samantha and Nellie weren’t the first historical characters to be retired/archived? Before Kaya was released in 2002, Felicity was retired. Below is the official catalogue announcement from American Girl:

Felicity was last featured in the Spring 2002 catalogue and many of her items were retired as they sold out.

Felicity returned to catalogues in 2005 with the release of her movie. She had a new meet outfit, several new outfits/accessories/furniture, and her best friend, Elizabeth, was now available as a doll.

While Felicity and her pared down collection were technically still available online only from Summer 2002 to Fall 2005, she was the first historical character doll to have a retirement announced.
