This evening, American Girl’s Facebook shop showed several “new” items that will soon be available for Nicki and Isabel. Two old Pleasant Company outfits will soon be available again directly from AG: The Red Vinyl Jumper and Year 2000 outfits!
In addition to a new tee for dolls and girls and a few accessory sets:
Outfit Comparisons
Here’s a side by side comparison of the new outfits compared to the original PC ones:
The Red Vinyl Jumper outfit looks pretty similar, although the original outfit only came with one plaid scrunchie. However, the new Year 2000 Outfit seems less like the original one. The new top and jacket appear to have a mix of pink and purple in their coloring whereas the original set was just sparkly purple. Isabel’s new outfit also comes with butterfly hair clips instead of the original 2000 headband.
Just going by the stock photos, I think Nicki’s Red Vinyl Jumper is closer to the original than Isabel’s Year 2000 outfit.
Slumber Party Kit
The slumber party kit was a girl sized item that was available in the 90s through the early 2000s and AG recreated this item for dolls. Here’s a comparison of the original girl sized set and the new doll set:
The new doll sized set looks pretty similar to the original girl sized one. Both have the carrying case, brush/mirror, flashlight, and toothbrush. The original set came with a washcloth, bag of microwave popcorn, confetti soap, and a tip sheet. The new doll set has nail polish, nail files, a hair clip, and a mini Care and Keeping of You book.
Girl of Today Tee
Lastly, there’s the Girl of Today Tee. The closest thing I can find to it is the AG PJs top:
This isn’t an exact match since the original shirt had long sleeves and I’m not sure if the new tee glows in the dark like the PJ top. Also, the original PJ top was made from a ribbed material like the Red Vinyl Jumper outfit turtleneck.

I believe this tee may have been first available in 1995 as the Basic Black AG Shirt. Unfortunately, I cannot find this shirt in either 1995 catalog that I have to confirm that this is the name. Here is a screenshot of the American Girl Wiki listing the name and year it was released:
The New Year’s Party Accessories and Movie Night Set look completely new and not like anything that Pleasant Company released.
